The Doors - Oliver Stone
well me being a huge doors fan, and a wannabe film critic i find the doors movie bad.
1) val kilmmer as jim its the nose that threw me off (not that i hate val, just him has jim. 2) robby and john look too young (was the guy that played robby the same person that played "brad" in puld fiction? 3) sames as 2, none of the actors look the part. 4) after seeing the deleated sceens, some of them should have been used like: the unknown soldier sceen, the one where he gets interagated by the cops(it has his mug shot at the end!) the ending where he is walking and "road house blues" is playing in the background, and near the end where he is talking to ray. 5) its kind of bad look at jim showing his darker sides . so if you have something to say(good or bad) about this movie let me know. |

I remember standing in line at the theater to see that movie the day it came out, and then being very disappointed. Oliver Stone somehow managed to make Jim Morrison boring. |

That's interesting. I have so many friends who consider it a kind of classic.
I've never seen it personally, but there are some people who just rave about it. |
I think thay, by and large, the movie's just gotten a free pass into the pantheon of the Jim Morrison cult. Much like his poetry, not worth a damn as poetry, but . . .

well this board is alive.... anyway now that we can all agree that all the stone suck we can all live in peace knowing that what i just said made no point what so ever... what about what that "witch" said about a curse?
looks like i didn't work olver still hasn't gotten it yet his movies still suck..... JFK was kinda cool* well like i said no point proven *cool is a lightly used term here |
I am utterly confused by the post above me. ^

well, what i ment to say was: olver stone's movies are really bad
(how bad are they?) they are so bad, Alexander was pushed to France, even there it stank like.....well (insert French joke here) in a lack of a better word olver stone is one of those directors that just won't except the fact that they should not direct.....of be in tinsle town. |

You know Taps, I was actually thinking the same thing. Unless of course we're mistake and there are just a lot of people who don't like Oliver Stone out there. Which is entirely possible.

"mary jane" ? I don't think so. She was a different kind of crazy

riggghhhhttt
I loved The Doors.
I thought that Val did a great job as Jim. the casting job was actually pretty good. I do agree about some of the deleted scenes I think you have to appreciate all sides of the artist to fully understand |

Yea it didn't really light my fire Da Dum Chhh
|
I just want to see someone try to work out a pun with "Peace Frog".
|
I thought Kilmer did a decent job but the movie itself was just an attempt at one big acid trip, which morrison did alot of it just doesn't make a very good movie.

Doors Movie
I liked the Doors movie, a lot really.
Yeah, maybe even a classic. I used to perform on the spoken word scene. I know that Ray Manzarek was still doing performances with poets on that scene, even as recently as 10 years ago. So, I think they caught the whole Morrison as poet thing very well. I really do think that was his motivation into the scene...as more of this poet kind of guy...almost with a mindset towards performance art, how that mixed in with the Native American spirituality, etc. So, yeah, I think Oliver Stone did a great job. |
