A familiar tale about love, but told in a unique and very creative way. Enjoyable and appealing, even if you know where it's headed. However, it's not predicable.
Tom believes in love at first site. Tom believes in he has found his true soul mate. Tom believes she is the one and only. The problem, Summer sees it differently. The film is framed around days, as the title suggest. Most films that don't follow in a chronological order work. This one does! To enjoy the film to it's upmost keep focus on the day before and after. For example: the film opens at day 488 backs into day 1. The story covers it all. Don't expect to understand Summer, since the film is told only from Tom's point of view. IMO, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is among our best young actors, but this film belongs to Zooey Deschanel. That said, the chemistry is astonishing, even in hopeless times. B+ Jack |

I thought this was pretty good. Zooey was great in this, she made the movie, at least for me. Some good laughs but it is mostly about trying to hold a relationship together and not go insane at the same time. A must see movie? No but a good effort. I give this movie a solid 6/10. Ken

I saw this three times in theatres. It's worth a watch, but not necessary to see it on the big screen. The soundtrack is great as well.

Just saw 500 Days of Summer.
I thought it was a fun and intelligent movie. Chopped up and put back together. There have been a number of movies like this in recent years. The device is getting a little old, I think. But I think it worked in this movie. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars. |
