Default James Stewart

Ok, Oz made a thread for her man, so I must follow suit. This is dedicated to Jimmy Stewart and every movie he ever made.

Here is IMDb's mini bio on him.....

His "aw shucks" demeanor has served him well as the good guy, the shy guy or the nice guy in films like Harvey (1950) and You Can't Take It with You (1938). Alfred Hitch**** turned him into a dramatic leading man in films like Rear Window (1954) and Vertigo (1958). Stewart also starred in his share of westerns, including The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), The Naked Spur (1953) and The Man from Laramie (1955).

My favorite Stewart movie? You Can't Take it With You. Rear Window, Shenandoah and Vertigo are high on the list as well.

Who would you compare him to now ??

I forgot to say in the Cary Grant thread, that I think his heir apparent is...George Clooney....

Most definitely George for Grant.

Hmmm, compare Stewart to an actor of today. I can't on spur-o-the moment! I'll think on it a while.

What a remarkable career. Hard to narrow it down to only mention a few. I've always especially loved the Westerns he did in the '50s with Anthony Mann:

Winchester '73 (1950)
Bend of the River (1952)
The Naked Spur (1953)
The Far Country (1955)
The Man from Laramie (1955)

I love the guy. Could watch him watch paint dry and it'd still be compelling. My favourites of his are his Hitch****s' Rope, Rear Window and most of all Vertigo.
