The icy wind lashed fiercely across my face as I lay crouched down low on the rooftop of a banking building in the CBD. Down below was a frenzied crowd of pre-teens impatiently waiting to catch a glimpse of their idol. Maddy, the latest singing sensation to spew forth even more pop froth in an already saturated market was about to perform his current hit single to the gathered group of predominantly female salivating fans. His trade mark? He didn’t have one. Like the rest of his contemporaries he used his body to sell his music, his voice seemed to be the by product. No one even knew if he could really sing since his sole purpose in life seemed to be only to burden the ears of millions with the sound of more panting and heavy breathing than actual lyrics. But the masses gathered around to see him certainly didn’t seem to mind.

I had felt equal amounts of surprise and pleasure to discover that my latest hit would be Maddy. It had seemed to me that everyone loved him; it was refreshing to know that someone didn’t. In my lustrous career I had had the honour of ending a few celebrity lives. Like so many of my past hits, this one was going to fetch me a hefty amount of cash. I didn’t know who the client was or what their motivation might be and to be quite honest, I wasn’t really interested in knowing. That wasn’t my business. To me, it was all about the Benjamin’s. Putting an end to the antics of the gyrating man whore was going to be a sweet moment. Not because I cared either way, but because there was no rush like the thrill of a kill.

Through my rifles Cross-Hair I focused on the big stage on which Maddy was due at any moment to make his appearance. I could hear the almost deafening sound of the crowd below chanting his name fervently in the hopes that it would bring him out sooner. Personally, I identified with them. I too wanted him to get his bony ass out on stage, not to listen to his mediocre vocals, but because I wanted to put a bullet through his head and hopefully have enough time left over to make my scheduled appointment with my golf clubs.

Someone must have heard my prayers because in a flash of ripped leather, Maddy ran onto stage, no doubt enjoying the adoring screams emanating from the crowd before him as he did so. I blocked out everything but the sight of him approaching the microphone, my finger steady on the trigger as I waited for the idiot to quit moving around like an energiser bunny so I could get a clear shot. Biding my time seemed to be key; the right moment would come. And so it did. Just as Maddy finished off his third number with a prolonged breathy squeal that had him throwing his head back in release, I knew my time had come. I waited … one moment more. My finger tightened … and tightened … and finally squeezed.

Picking up my cell phone I dialled the second speed dial. “It’s done. Transfer the rest of my cash”, I said and cancelled the call. I whistled pleasantly as I gathered my belongings, pleased with the days work.

Kudos to our killer!!!! It is waaay to early for me to voice my suspicions, but Oh Yeah, I have a good feeling about this, as to whom it might be. I do know that this killer is very clever, but not clever enough to fool me.
