I am ashamed to say I just now watched this movie. My husband and I both sat riveted to the TV..what a powerful movie about such a unique human being.
There should be a religion worshiping this spirited woman who had such a lust and zest for life. {Re: Reel Faces: Frida}
I have been familiar with her painting for years, but never knew that much about the strange little woman who created those surreal paintings.

The movie was just spectacular, Salma Hayek was absolutely perfect as Frida.
This is a must see movie, the movie is outstanding and so was the woman it is about.

10/10....Watch this movie, do yourself a big favor...

Yeah, this was a good'un. Great cast; Alfred Molina was excellent...
Funnily enough, i'm not so keen on her art. I went to an exhibition of her works in London a while back and only a couple caught my eye.

I am not so keen on her paintings either....but the story of her life and the motivation behind her creations was what I found so entralling. And her life despite all the pain and suffering was quite exciting and she didn't seem to let it get her down, she certainly expressed it through her art though.
Yes that was one of Molina's best performances and also Geoffrey Rush as Leo Trotsky was very good.
I failed to mention, my favorite phrase...visually stunning, but it was. Also a fantastic musical score.

Haha..yeah it was OK Charlie..

I liked the movie a lot! I loved how she would be in the moment of time that inspired her works..and you see the painting come to life.

I agree. The scene right after she cuts off her hair and is wearing the suit and sitting in the chair, that is actually Salma sitting there and they painted her clothes to make it look like it is a painting and then she starts to slowly move, so it looks like the painting comes to life.

If you watch the DVD the extras are really good, they made the movie on a pretty low budget and had to get quite creative with the special effects. The whole movie was really a labor of love for everybody involved in it.
