Default The Departed

This is one of my favourite films. I love the contrast of how one character (Matt Damon) grew up with all the advantages, while the disadvantaged one (Leonardo Di Caprio) grew up with the morals. I loved the twist and turns of the plot and I found the ending to be quite surprising.

I love this movie too. I never tire of it, I have watched it many times. So many great performances. Ray Winstone is a real standout for me and Alec Baldwin. Even though the movie was so dramatic, there were still some great moments of humor.

I loved him in it too. I liked the banter between Alec Baldwin and him.

I can't stand Matt Damon so that role was perfect for him. What a bastard!

I watched this one a week before this round of film club was announced. I like this movie. I thought Jack was great in it and had some really good lines...some scenes could have been a bit shorter. I found the scene with Marky Mark breaking down DiCaprio's family history to be a bit lengthy etc...Matt Damon is just plain annoying, some people play the same character over and over well. Others, just can't pull it off as much...I think Damon falls into the later catagory and I can't for the life of me figure out why they keep throwing movies his way.

IMHO Scorsese did a good job on this one...BUT, after I watched The Departed for the first time when it came out I got my hands on the original Internal Affairs. Not sure if anyone else found this or has seen it, but I found that many shots and scenes are direct copies in the American version and you sort of lose some respect for him with this one. I found myself enjoying the original better.

I'm glad this film was chosen. Too often I buy dvds and watch them once and they sit for years unwatched because I'm too busy watching movies I haven't seen before. I guess this was maybe the fourth or fifth time I've seen this though.

I saw this in the theater too and was blown away by it. Jack, Leo, Mark, Martin, and Alec were all great. Like Oz, I'm not a big fan of Matt Damon, but I don't dislike him as much as I used to...he keeps getting offered pretty good movies, so it's hard to hate him.

You could tell it was a Scorsese pic by the directing style. I haven't seen Internal Affairs, so I can't compare it to that. But I liked practically everything about it. I remember being very surprised when Costigan was shot. Also gotta love Dignan at the end of the movie.

Hmmmmm, I don't know! I thought Matt Damon was excellent in The Departed, as were Di Capricho and Mark Walberg.

Amazing movie. There's a good article in Newsweek about Whitney Bulger the real life person Jack Nicholson's character is based on if anyone is interested. Crazy **** that guy.

The Departed sure is a good movie, Mika! I'd love to see that Newsweek article about Whitey Bulger, who's a rather dangerous and nasty piece of work!
