This is a good news/bad news thing.

Good news! Had a job due to start this week that required me to have safety equipment, which I had.

Bad News! I say had, because some complete a*se hole has broken into my shed and nicked the lot... So no job.

Good news! I have not one, but two interviews this week!

Bad news! Once again, they are both at the same time, this time at opposite ends of the town.

Good news! As Oxfam is busy this week, I've got some extra shifts...

Bad news! I have an interview techniques interview at the same time!

Anyone know how far scientists have got with cloning humans? 'cause I think I need it.

You're still with Oxfam :-)

Have you looked at the jobs that were mailed out each week with the bulletins?
I managed to get a deputy manager postion in the one that I volunteered in. Maybe there is one near you, lots of the jobs are internal vacancies so you won't find them advertised anywhere else.

Yeah, we don't get the emails too regular here. Printed off and put on the board at least.

It's because the manager is too busy and there isn't an assistant manager in the branch.

You got the deputy manager job? That's good news

Grr...

I did a three day un-paid trial. I was told that if I like the job at the end, the job is mine. I was told this because A} I'm the only applicant and {more importantly} B} I already volunteer with the ymca with whom the job of assistant manager is for.

Those three days went fine in their furniture shop.

But...

1} The store is failing.
2} It's failing because Ymca don't have a bloody clue how to deal with small businesses.
3} The store I'm looking at going into has just the one person in it at any one time, meaning if you need to do the banking, you need to first close the store.
4} Not allowed to use the best tool in the world to help value stock. You know, the internet.
5} Not allowed to advertise
6} Not allowed to get in contact with local antique dealers to help value stock.
7} The volunteer policy makes me laugh. They are told to {and this is a direct quote} "Come in whenever they want"

The store should be making £2000 a week. It's barely making £300.

After going for the three days {reminding you that I was told that the job would be mine}, I'm now told that I need to go to an interview against other candidates ?

All in all, I'm not sure if I want to take this on if offered it this afternoon.

Hey, I'm back in this thread again.

Am a little angry right now.

In Oxfam, we had a complete set of Starwars collector cards. Worth a fiver on ebay, I had it priced at £3.99.

Some complete @rse has stolen 1 card from the set.

How petty is that?

Sunday evening I managed to lock myself out of my flat. Without my mobile (so I couldn't phone my girlfriend who had just set off to her home 2 hours drive away). I couldn't wait two hours and phone her when she got home from a phone box and expect her to drive two hours back with her key and then two hours back home again. I live five floors up and I knew my back balcony door was open so I asked my very nervous looking Vietnamese neighbour (whom I've hardly seen since she moved in about 6 months ago) if I could climb round the seperation of our balconies. However the combination of very strong, tight, nylon anti-pigeon netting and an awkwardly positioned and ridiculously big and cumbersome satellite dish put paid to that idea. In the finish I had to go to another neighbour and ask if I could come out their bedroom fire escape to get to my fire escape door. I knew it was locked but I knew the key was in the lock. I eventually had to smash a hole in the reinforced double glazing with a hammer (small hole on the outside..inner pane shattered into a gazillion fragments..but still in the frame..thankfully). Managed to get my hand through jagged glass hole and unlock the door..had to phone council emergency number to get a bloke round to board it up and now I've been ringing the number he gave me for the past day and a bit to try and arrange for glass to be put in and all I'm getting is an engaged tone. Also as it was 'self-inflicted' (as opposed to a break in or accident) I'll have to pay for it and I'm looking at up to £200...which I don't have.
