Yeah I would not have watched any of them if not for my wife wanting to see them. Even those that are now on one of the cable networks. I skip past them. she will want to see them from time to time.

This weekend we watched 'Chronicle'..which I thought was pretty good despite being yet another 'found footage' film.
Also watched 'The Adjustment Bureau' (with Maaaattt Daaaay-mun!) which wasn't as good as I thought it would be...or at least as good as the trailer led me to believe.

We also watched 'Coraline' which was a delightfully dark stop frame animation. very 'Tim Burton' in style.

Still gotta see Chronicle, heard good things about it. The Adjustment Bureau was completely not what I was expecting. I think the trailers really mis-marketed it. Was surprised how much of a romance angle there was in there....

I also just watched Transformers : Dark Of The Moon recently on cable. I have to say the first Transformers was the best. After that it started to get dull & boring.

Just watched Good Will Hunting for the first time. I have been wanting to see it for a very long time just never got around to it.

It is now my favorite film. I love the way Damon portrays his character. I guess he reminds me a little of my nephew. Very very VERY bright but stupid because he is so young and has no experience at all. That isn't so bad but he doesn't want anyone to teach him anything because he already knows it all. And he will act like he is listening to what you tell him only to summarily dismiss it once he walks away. He just tells you what he thinks you want to hear him say.

This is Robin Williams be movie. Typically I don't care for his departure from comedy based films. (Dead Poets Society and One Hour Photo)

Best line in the movie was Affleck's line when he says,
Quote:
Every day I come by your house and I pick you up. And we go out. We have a few drinks, and a few laughs, and it's great. But you know what the best part of my day is? For about ten seconds, from when I pull up to the curb and when I get to your door, 'cause I think, maybe I'll get up there and I'll knock on the door and you won't be there. No goodbye. No see you later. No nothing. You just left. I don't know much, but I know that.

most amazing part is that Affleck and Damon wrote the story. I know I had read it or heard it before but I forgot it long ago. I also realize they got a little direction from others along the way but it is amazing at 23 and 25 that could put enough depth into Will Hunting and had Sean Maguire explain to him how little he really knew about life. At their ages, they themselves were just learning. Granted some of the lines were adlibed.

I think I will watch it again this week.

We watched John Carter this weekend. For a film that was suppose to be 'a box office flop'...'biggest turkey of all time'..and garnered some terrible reviews..you know what? It ain't bad at all! We really enjoyed it. Neither of us have read the books so we have no point of reference to pick up on and complain about. Considering it's based on a 'sci-fi' novel written in 1917 I thought the interpretation of Edgar Rice Burroughs story was pretty darn good. Loved the flying machines.

I agree.

I have noticed if I see a movie before I read the book I am never disappointed. When I read the book after it fills in a lot of gaps. Unless you want a 10 hr movie it is not possible to put it all into a movie.

When I read a book then see the movie I am always a little disappointed that they cut up the book so much. I will find myself wishing this scene or that one was added to the film version. The movie characters are almost never who I had envisioned when I read the book. I would like to see more unknowns get the big parts than to stick a Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman or even Morgan Freeman into a role just to sell tickets.

I'm the same way about books and movies.

I also thought John Carter was pretty darn good.

I'm sure a lot of viewers thought they ripped off Star Wars and a few other films, when this story was the granddaddy of them all. If this film would have been made decades ago I think it would have done a lot better at the box office.

We watched Arabesque last night, it was entertaining and I don't even remember it. It was made in 1966 and I am sure I must have watched it atleast once in all of these years.

Anyway, Alan Badel in sunglasses looked so much like Peter Sellers I couldn't get over it!! I thought it was uncanny.

I have seen Arabesque a few times. Sophia Loren and Gregory Peck are great actor(ess). And yet I find it most forgettable.

I think it was because in the mid 60's Hollywood tried to make artsy movies and failed at it.

that's probably why I didn't remember seeing it.

Just watched Gambit, 1966, and it was really enjoyable. A good sort of quirky crime cape, yes they were making a lot of them in the 60's.
