Default Lord of War

I was highly impressed with this. I think the key to this film is that it's so well made, it allows you to think about the moral implications without niggling at holes in the storyline and production (though granted, it's not flawless). The cast is very good, though I found that Cage began to grate on me after a while (but he does have his moments). I also, would have liked to see more of Jared Leto. He was very good. but yeah, great film all round, with some very clever scenes. Niccol also pulls his moral punches with a smile; you can't help but grin as Cage hands out a whole cargo full of guns and grenades to random africans in an attempt to legalise his plane before the feds arrive. I won't discuss any moral issues here as they're pretty obvious and hard to argue against, but again, Niccol manages to deliver an even arguement and you feel obligied to root for Cage to an extent...
Well made, and moral without being preachy. Definately recommended.

Thanks El.

I guess I'll have to see this one! Were the gunfights and explosion plentiful? If so, I must see this in theatres

Well, there's a reasonable amount of both, but it's not an action film. Well, it is in a way, but the action scenes are well thought out. If you've seen Gattica, you'll get what I mean. The nearest film i can relate it to is Goodfellas...

I've seen neither of those, so this should be fresh material. I like the sound of well thought out action scenes, they are always better. Flat out wack-em is okay sometimes, but action with some substance to it is better!
