very solid sci-fi.
I would give it a 4 compared to the general lot of movies around. darker subject. I personally don't think it is suited for younger kids. If similar themes had not been done before, would be much better. Effects, design excellent. Acting is good, but it that had been through the roof, it could have carried picture to another level. |

Just rewatched this on dvd having seen it at the cinema, where it was one of my favourite films of the past year [if not the favourite]. I was watching 'the making of' dvd just now and had a eureka moment in that I had been thinking that I didn't feel the film could have been made any better than it had been [the blu ray version, which I haven't seen, probably counteracts any arguement about it possibly being made grittier for older audiences]; the last time I felt that about a film was when I saw Seabiscuit [again a film that I've only recently rewatched on dvd after loving it at the cinema]. I then realised that both films had been dircted by Gary Ross who I now believe is some kind of genius. Especially as Seabiscuit was adapted from one of my favourite books which made me very critical of how it was done [think Captain Corelli's Mandolin and weep]. Must now watch 'Big' and 'Pleasantville'. Sadly, Gary Ross isn't directing the next part of the trilogy.

Im from louisville and dated a girl who went to school with Jennifer Lawrence and we actually hung out with her one night. She was still doing the Bill Engvall show then but was super cool.
