Default A Christmas Carol

This year Oscar award winning director Robert Zemeckis(Beowulf, Monster House, The Polar Express) is directing the computer animated version of the literary classic, Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Rotten Tomatoes page

Movie clip/Interview with Jim Carey

A Christmas Carol will most notably star

Jim Carey(voice talents of Ebenezer Scrooge / Ghost of Christmas Past / Ghost of Christmas Present / Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come)

Gary Oldman (voice talents of Bob Cratchit / Marley / Tiny Tim)

The film, like his past two computer animated films will be produced in 3d through a technique known as performance capture.

The film will be released in both Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D.

I won't be looking forward to this....A Christmas Carol was and is a great story, but it has been done to death...it has been done poorly and it was been done wonderfully....and everywhere in between. I just don't think another version is necessary...and on top of that I don't really care for Jim Carey.

I know watcha mean...he's kinda second class. But I loved Zemeckis The Polar Express which is a classic in my opinion, so I think this one will be excellent. But I can see where your going with an overused story.

Always a bad sign when one ego..er, sorry..I mean one 'star' plays several characters...look what happened to Eddie Murphy.
As Oz said, A Christmas Carol has been done brilliantly in the past (the Alistair Sim version is the daddy as far as I'm concerned) and spoofed ad infinitum. Don't really see the point of yet another version..motion capture or otherwise

No one will ever improve upon the Alastair Sim version; although I did like The Muppets Christmas Carol. I always intend to read the book before Christmas but never do. Our local theatre has twice had A Christmas Carol instead of a traditional pantomime and it was very successful; in fact I could happily see it every year. Excuse my ignorance, but do you guys have Christmas pantomimes in America, or is it just a traditional British thing?

I will say however as Mo did and Charlie, that the one with Alistair Sim is the best version bar none.

It's a charming story. The Polar Express was just really charming to me. If the same can be done for A Christmas Carol, I think it's gonna be great!!
