George is a very successful stand up comedian who learns that he has an untreatable blood disorder and is given less than a year to live. Ira is a struggling up-and-coming stand up comedian who works at a deli and has yet to figure out his onstage persona. One night, these two perform at the same club and George takes notice of Ira. George hires Ira to be his semi-personal assistant as well as his friend. >>> This stars: Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Eric Bana and Leslie Mann. This was pretty good but not great. FYI, its over two hours long. I like Sandler in movies like this. Kind of goofy BUT serious as well. Lots of laughs and some sad parts as well. Sandler trying to hook up again with his ex was an important part of the movie, you may disagree on that. *LOTS* of bad language in this flick. It was like watching "Casino" all over. lol Seth Rogen was good in this as well, very few complaints folks. This is a good date movie and worth the money. Overall, I give this movie a 6.5/10. Ken

Funny People
Just saw the new comedy movie, made by Judd Apatow, the guy who made Pineapple Express and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Was with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan and cameos by something like 20 famous comedians. I thought it would be an ok movie, but nothing special, just something to do. But I was pleasantly surprised. The comedy was funny, but not overpowering like some kind of romp (which is fine too, but this just wasn't). It had a real storyline and that delivered very well, I thought. Storyline goes for the heartfelt, so it could have come across sappy, but I think it defeated whatever obstacles make a film sappy rather than heartfelt. Top to bottom a good solid movie. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. |

I really want to see this film. I've loved pretty much anything that Apatow has had anything to do with to date, though my favourite film has to be Walk Hard.
