Whiteout DVD Contest
Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber, Whiteout stars Kate Beckinsale as U.S. Marshall Carrie Stetko, who is sent to Antarctica to solve a murder at the Amundsen-Scott Research Station. Threatened by 100 MPH winds, six months of winter darkness, a temperature of -120 degrees, and a killer waiting to strike again, Carrie must solve the crime before the murderer takes the life of his or her next victim. Other members of the cast include Gabriel Macht, Tom Skerrit and Alex O'Loughlin. Special Features: Additional scenes are included on the DVD. For more information on this and other releases, visit the official site at Warner Bros. ![]() To Enter the Contest: In a reply to this post, embrace the cold weather by sharing your favorite movie or TV show that was partially or totally set in a frost bitten environment. This can be anything from snow covered mountains to the extreme chill of Antarctica. Basically, any movie that gave you the chills, but not necessarily in a scary kind of way. Brrrrrrrrr. Good Luck. Alright... Wind Chill. Most people just absolutely hate this film, but i have always had a soft spot for it. Technically a hipster's horror film, the movie strays away from the horror genre just long enought to become a smart character study. The unnamed man and woman stuck in the snowbank already have a very battered relationship. basically the girl (Emily Blunt) finds out that the boy (Ashton Holmes) has been stalking her. Or at least she suspects. As they share a ride to delaware, the boy decides to take a scenic route ultimately getting them lost and stuck. the movie trys at times to be a very moody horror film. but its the atmosphere of "a cold night in a small car" that makes the film work.

I can never get enough of The Day After Tomorrow. Seeing the ship float through New York City really got me thinking.

My absolute favorite comedy of all-time, Grumpy Old Men, takes place in my native Minnesota and much of it during the Winter. Gotta love the ice fishing scenes. And the two old curmudgeons scrapping off their car windows and bickering back and forth.

John Carpenters The Thing. Besides the horror of dealing with a shapeshifting alien. Just the isolation of being alone on Antartica and dealing with the fridgid weather. brrrrrr

This was a tough choice, but while I loved "Whiteout", I'm gonna go with a film that had more than just snow, but all types of weather....how much better can you get than "The Day After Tomorrow"? GREAT FILM!!!!

I'll have to go with "The Last Winter". The whole movie was just really interesting, plus the ending left such a Mystery.

I have to go with Battle Star Galactica's Ice Planet episodes. The original episodes from the 80's, not from the new series. I really loved when they met the clones on this planet. Evading the Cylons in the cold was awesome.

Hmm...
Again, I could say LOTR, but I'm voting for 30 days of night. A month of Vampires in the cold snow. Creepy.
