I'm not a big fan of remakes, but I'll try to keep an open mind on this one.

Yet another person in agreement with the above comments! Haven't seen the film for years, but always remember her horse..was he called Little Blackie or something. And there's a racehorse who runs round the northern tracks over here called Miss Mattie Ross, and I never knew where the name came from till now. She's probably retired now..perhaps the Coen Brothers could give her a job.

I like Bridges and Damon and the Coen Brothers, but I think it's sheer folly to remake Rooster Cogburn. Why not write a new script, and sign those actors to it? John Wayne's is an awfully big, iconic shadow under which to be trying to make a movie.
