Let Me In is the American re-make of Swedish vampire flick 'Let The Right One In'. Like the original it's set in the 80's (but in Reagan Era America, obviously). It's directed by 'Cloverfield' helmer Matt Reeves and stars Chloe Moretz as 12 yr old vampire Abby.
To be honest the inclusion of Ms Moretz (who played the foul mouth Hit Girl in 'Kick-Ass') is the only positive thing going on with this needless re-make in my opinion.

"Let The Right One In" is the best type vampire film I've ever seen, which means a US remake is probably futile. It does co-star Richard Jenkins one of the best character actors around. It opens 10/2010.
Another Swedish US remake is "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" which opens in 2012. The rumor has Viggo Morthenson playing Mikael and Carey Mulligan playing Lisbeth. The casting seems very good, but is it an adaptation of the book or a remake. The book is 640 pages. I'm now reading "The Girl Who Played with Fire", which is the second of the trilogy and due out in July. The problem is this: Swedish movie producers made it for TV, but will be released in theaters, due to the popularity. As will "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest", due out in the fall. Great reading Jack |
