There are so many out there, but my most recent favorite magician is Nicolas Cage's role in Disney's Sourcer's Apprentice

Grotbags form a kids show in th UK in the early eighties. Or T Bag from another 80's kids show. I loved those programmes when I was growing up.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grotbags http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T._Bag For those who weren't born in the 80's and lived in the UK. |

Okay..we seem to have a good thread going here. Since we are on British magicians and trying to get a British magician on dvd, I will tell you my favorite magician, one that is dear to my American heart. Miss Price or as you know, Angela Lansbury in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. She uses her magical powers *budding magical powers* to ward off the Nazis.

There's far too many witches and wizard's in popular culture to make this an easy decision. Some are classics, some are obscure, and some are just down-right cliche.
I would have to say that currently though, my choice would be The Beldam from Coraline (The Other Mother). Though not outright shown as a witch, she's mythologically described as such. I find this character terrifying and yet brilliantly fascinating. Essentially, the Beldam endulges her prey's every wish and desire in an attempt to trick them into allowing her to consume their very lives. This makes her especially dangerous to children (who, lets face it, can be a bit greedy). I choose the Beldam as my favorite witch in cinema not only because her background is really interesting, or her character design in Henry Selick's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's classic story is very visually pleasing, but because she sends a very important and timeless message to viewers: Be careful what you wish for. |

Had to think about this, but then I remembered the obvious answer: Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer! She's like the ultimate cute nerdy girl, and I really enjoyed the development and changes her character went through over the years (ignoring the last two seasons; I hated those and felt many of those changes were completely out of character). Her witch turn was particularly cool to me, as it made Willow an even more valuable member of the Scooby gang.
I did mention she's cute, right? ![]() |

I'd have to say my favorite is Merlin, and I'm not just saying that because of this contest!
Why I like him...um, I just do! I think he's a cool character. When I think of wizards or witches in tv or movies, Merlin is the one that comes to my mind the fastest. Now if we were talking books, I'd have to say Owen Palmer from Enchanted, Inc is my favorite, but we're not talking about books......so yes, Merlin is my favorite wizard from any tv show or movie! |

Okay...not sure if many of you remember this, but Tony Blake (Bill Bixby) was my favorite magician. Only lasted one season, but for the life of me, not sure why this fantastic show disappeared. Okay, kind of corny, but I can't make it any better. Bill Bixby did a fantastic bit of acting in this one.
The new BBC Merlin is great....fun show. |

My favourite witch from a film is the witch from The wizard of oz!
The reason for this is because I seen this film as a young kid and loved it when I was young my mother would say if you dont eat your dinner the wicked witch will come and take me away lol.The worst thing is we liked near a tower thing on a hill! So thats my entry I would of picked Dumbedore from Harry Potter but that is to mainstream and boring ! |
