HUBBLE DVD Contest
Synopsis: Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, the IMAX documentary HUBBLE tells the story of the 2009 Space Shuttle Atlantis mission to make vital repairs and upgrades to the Hubble Space Telescope, the world's first space-based optical telescope. The film documents the five spacewalks required, as well as a look at the effort to grasp the orbiting telescope with the shuttle's mechanical arm at 17,000 MPH. Faced with an unexpected problem that could derail the entire mission, HUBBLE is a fascinating look at what has been our eye to worlds beyond our own for the past 20 years. Release Date: HUBBLE is available on DVD, On Demand and for Download on 3/29/2011. For more on this and other documentaries, visit Warner Bros. ![]() To Enter the Contest: In a reply to this post, share a movie (or documentary) you like involving astronauts and/or the space program. As always, there is no length requirement for your post. Good Luck, Space Cowboys (and girls)! ![]() Last edited by klance1 : 10-06-2011 at 09:18 PM. |

My favorite film about the space program would be, without a doubt, The Astronaut's Wife.
Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron give a wonderful performance and add a sense of believability to what could potentially be a silly premise. It really is a great thriller, and it's a shame that it bombed in the box-office. |

My favorite and I am sure most will "not" agree is Space Cowboys. Love those old fellows flying around in space.

Dark Star - John Carpenter's debut feature film, featuring a philosophical talking bomb and a guy surfing back to Earth through space on some debris. Brilliant.

2001-A Space Odyssey is a classic I own on laser disc. Not all the special effects of later movies, but ahead of its time in 1968.

Aliens.... always thought the second one was the best of the series.

Apollo 13...(any documentary or the movie)
reality is better than hollywood. To remain that calm in the face of certain death is pretty remarkable

What? Don't eat the eggs. We put LSD in the eggs. And the water. I put LSD in the main water tank. What? But, we drank the water! Yeah! |

Space Camp. What a great flick. I have a copy that my kids love. Bunch of kids taking off into space. Just a feel good story.

I highly recommend "From the Earth to the Moon", the HBO mini-series with Tom Hanks. It showed the many different aspects for the space program.
