So I'm looking to purchase an HD production quality movie camera. I already own Final Cut Pro Studios and have spent lots of time using it by renting cameras or using them at work. Finally I want to own my own. I have around $1800 to spend. Having just started looking around I was wondering if any of you have favorites or particular knowledge in this area? I'd appreciate any help and suggestions!

I'd personally go with Panasonic if possible...are you looking for a consumer style camcorder or a professional HD Video Camera? Entry Level HD Pro Cameras are around $4000 and go up to $15,000 depending on what you're looking for....of you're looking for an idiotproof style camera (auto focus, iris etc..) Panasonic has a decent 1080p model for about $1200...
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a professional camera for $1800 unless you start looking at second hand.

I think 2nd hand may be what I have to start looking for. Either that or I'll keep saving. Thanks though
