I often have a debate about Natalie Wood with a friend of mine. She believes that Natalie Wood was one of the greatest actresses ever, and I think she was good, though better as a child, but that the reputation of being a great actress is due to that she was from an age when Hollywood was at it's peak, and you know how reputations change especially after someone passes away. I just want to know what everyone thinks of her acting ability in some of her well known films Tomorrow is Forever, Miracle on 34th Street, Rebel Without a Cause, Splendor in the Grass, West Side Story...

I think she was a good enough actress and faired much better than most grown up child stars.....
I think she was one of the grestest child actresses ever...but as an adult...nothing really sticks in my mind as an outstanding performance...

That's how I feel. As a child, she was remarkable really. But I feel a lot of the appeal was lost as she got older.

I guess I basically take issue with 'one of the greatest actresses ever'....it took me a while to remember what I had seen her in..that is not a good sign....

I found her hilarious in The Great Race, my favorite of all the characters actually. Didn't she handcuff herself to a men's room at one point in that flick?
There was one, called Penelope (I believe)...She played a cleptomaniac. Now I could have the wrong role with the wrong picture, but I remember enjoying her in this one.

I think she was fantastic in West Side Story. That's really the extent of my knowledge of her, but she certainly seemed like one of the best in that.
