I think the film I most remember her for was her last film 'Brainstorm' which also had Christopher Walken as the inventor of a device that enables the wearer to 'record' their senses and experiences and others to experience their feelings when they play them back (eg...to demonstrate it Walken wears the device while on a rollercoaster and records the experience and then when someone else plays it back they experience everything Walken felt on the rollercoaster). It had very early CGI FX but at the time I thought they were mindblowing!
Anyone else seen this? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085271/

I didn't like her much in West Side Story. The parts that they allowed her to sing, she sang pretty horribly, and she couldn't keep up her Puerto Rican accent throughout the film. They could have chosen someone who could have at least sang the part, since that is what the role revolves around And Matt, me and my friend were referring to all actresses, which was why I didn't agree. I don't think she falls in the category of best actresses ever.

If we're talking like top 25, then no, definately not. She was a good actress, but sometimes people over appreciate artist who die young bacause of the "coulda" factor.

I'm really trying to think of her performances..she was ok in Gypsy..but I can remember thinking her acting always seemed forced to me.....She really over acted in Splendor in The Grass....
It is just like any artist/singer/writer/actor.... when they die..and especially an untimely or tragic death...they almost always gain myth-like status..whether justified or not....

Yep, that's what I'm thinking. Especially since she died under mysterious conditions, her fame was basically sealed.

Haha. Interesting pic. Especially because she was terrified of water. Which is why it's weird she died of drowning too.
