Me as well. I was two years old and at a family party fell into my pool. No one noticed because they were all to prepccupied drinking So my brother, who was 6 at the time, jumped in and saved me. My parents were furious, they go inside to get the food ready and leave me with my relatives fo 5 minutes...

Thank goodness my brother was there.

strange how many of us have had near drowning experiences... i just remember when i hit the water how my body just froze up and then i tried to get out and hit ice and really began to panic...

i have such a hard time watching movies with people drowning-was watching Pearl Harbor the other day and barely got through the part with the men in the Arizona...

They say (who "they" is I'm not sure) that drowning and suffocation are pleasant ways to go. But with all the struggling that precedes it, I can't see how.

I have a difficult time watching wrists and necks being slit. It really bothers me.

Seen Interview With the Vampire? If not, don't, for that reason.

Yeah well...'they' are talking bollocks..

There's the fear when you find yourself going under..the panic that kicks in when you realise you cannot breathe anymore...the thrashing..the light above the water receding as you sink lower..trying to cry out for help and just getting more water in your lungs....

No..drowning is not a pleasant way to go unless you are already unconscious when you hit the water...and if you're already unconscious then any method of death will be pleasant as you're not awake to experience it.

yea, i never understood how they gathered data for finding out the pleasant ways to die... it's not like you can ask your test subjects, being that if the test was successful, they'd be dead...

I was playing with some other kids and they went home and then I fell into a big ditch full of dirty/gross water...after coming up for the third time an old guy was driving by in his car and jumped out of his car and saved me...

We were even in the local paper.....they made me stand next to the ditch for a picture with the guy and my mom...I still remember freaking, even getting near the open ditch...

It actually happened to me three times!! (I didn't lean to swim til i was about 12)
First I jumped into the pool aged about 6 or 7 without arm bands or a rubber ring thinking it would be very shallow...and went under. I was fished out by some bloke who was nearby teaching his son to swim....

Second time aged about 9 I slipped on the wet edge of the pool while on holiday and fell in the 9ft 6in. Going down for the third time I was grabbed and pulled out by a stranger!

Finally aged about 13 I swam out too far in the sea and got cramp and was rescued again by a stranger who just happened to be swimming near by!

I should point out it was different stranger everytime...
