The other world from Coraline.
The magical wonderful place, where anything can happen. So much whimsy, and fun! Make sure not to spend too much time there. Things tend to rot and fester quite fast.

It's not very often that a story aimed at children makes me shiver as an adult.
The movie altogether was gorgeous to watch, but the other world really made it great. I especially enjoy the Other Father's song about Coraline.

Terrifying and beautiful.

Wonderland has always been my favorite. In every movie version Ive seen its always been a little different but for this I'm going to go with the Tim Burton version. Ive always love it because its always implied that wonderland is and isn't part of Alice's imagination and it seems like something a child would dream up with the talking caterpillars and running rabbits even the red queen with the big head.while there is the danger and depressingness that makes it seem real as well. But what really makes it stand out for me is how colorful and dark it is.

My vote is for Toon Town from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? That movie was one of my favorites from when i was young and is still fantastic today. Christopher Lloyd melting the toon in the slime was really scary when i was little and i remember it clearly today. The first time i saw a movie with animation and live action together and i thought it was the coolest thing ever.

I love, love, love, love the fantastical world in "The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T." It's an old, black and white, live-action Dr. Seuss movie. The set reminds me of a Salvador Dali painting and there are siamese twins on rollerskates - just a real visual feast." Thanks for hosting this contest!

(My second favorite, by the way, is another black and white film, "Forbidden Zone," for very similar reasons...)

Does the "world" of Waking Life count? I loved how each little "area" on Wiley's journey was sort of a visual reflection of the people and subject matter of that particular scene.

But if not that, then The Forbidden Zone. The 6th Dimension was just all kinds of awesome wackiness.

Personally I would have to say Pans Labyrinth. Still not personally sure if the whole thing is a dream or an alternate fantasy world but when Pan enters the alternate world the art style and creatures are unlike anything I have seen before. Went into the film with low expectations and it completely blew me away.

Labyrinth for me. Jim Henson, Jennifer Connelly, David Bowie, what a team! It was a very entertaining movie with a classic Henson touch which made the alternate world a bit special compared to others in other movies.
