Default Horrible Bosses Blu-ray Contest

Horrible Bosses Blu-ray Contest

Synopsis: You may be able to relate to the idea of having a horrible boss. After working at a handful of jobs throughout your life, you'll likely encounter a few. However, for Dale (Charlie Day, It's Always Sunny), Nick (Jason Bateman) and Kurt (Jason Sudeikis), their horrible bosses are so bad that they come up with the idea to get rid of them for good. Of course, their idea came to them while they were intoxicated and talking to a hustling ex-con (Jamie Foxx). Kevin Spacey plays the boss of Jason Bateman's character, Jennifer Aniston is Charlie Day's boss, and Colin Farrell oversees Jason Sudeikis. With quitting not an option, will these three friends finally be freed of the cruel and often humiliating treatment from their bosses, or will their plan backfire and make their lives even worse.

Well, this isn't much of an example but it's recent. My old boss (my last day was Friday!) was an @sshole and I worked there for 7 years...a pallet factory. We processed our own lumber and built pallets with it. They have 6 different saws, two different pallet machines, and a few other machines. I was the only person in the whole factory that was able to run every machine productively and repair them. I was a foreman too, in charge of quality control and training. Anyhow, after 7 years of working there I put my two weeks in and all he said was, "Ok." Didn't try to get me to stay or say he hated to lose me or thanks for all the years of service or anything else. At least it made me feel so much more justified and satisfied for quitting.

Default That's really awful

Reading your comment made me feel bad for you--not because you needed someone else's approval in order to know you did a good job, because you clearly know you were a good employee, but because it would have been the decent thing for your boss to do, to offer appreciation and thanks--and he couldn't make the effort. I hope your next experience is much better. I am sure that it will make you an even better boss or leader for the rest of your working career--you won't forget that gestures do matter.

Default She stole my idea!

Probably my worst memory as an employee is the time I was invited to participate in a round table with my boss, her boss, and the big boss, as well as other department heads. I was young and enthusiastic, and this was my first exposure to upper management in that setting.

Before the meeting, my boss asked what ideas I was going to offer concerning our department's role in the matter to be discussed. I told her the ideas I had come up with, relating to new programs we could roll out and changes we could make to be more effective.

During the meeting, they called on my boss first and I was stunned to hear her present my ideas as her own. They then turned to me and asked if I had anything to add. I wish I had said, "Well, since Anne just presented the ideas I gave her before the meeting, I think that covers it", but instead I just lamely said I didn't have anything else to offer.

That is one of those experiences I would handle so much differently now, and would love to have the chance to rewrite. Horrible boss, indeed.

Default Speaking of Horrible Bosses...

When I was in grade 9, I was in a work-experience program where I was sent out into the workplace as free help to learn the ropes about having a job. During this time, I was assigned a spot at a local IGA supermarket in the produce department, aswell as occasionally restocking shelves of canned goods when needed. Ever since I showed up for my first day, the boss had a weird sort of attitude toward me. Apparently I was just some snot-nosed teenager looking for a free-ride, which of course wasn't true. I worked myself silly - actually even missing some breaks (in hopes of getting a good report) - and after about two weeks the head of the produce dept. said I should hand in a resume and start getting paid for my hard work. Before I could attempt to do that though, I was called to the store manager's office where he proceeded to yell at me about my lack of work ethic and sent me home for "working too slow". In the history of our school's work-experience program, I was the first and only person to actually get fired from a non-paying job.

I once got cursed out during an apology for being cursed out. This guy was the most arrogant person I have ever met, much less worked for. Fortunately,
he has moved on.

Post Horrible Boss

I was working on a project out of town. As we approached the location with a crew and a van full of equipment, my boss said, "The first thing I need you to do is run power." Normally, we would unload the van and then run electrical cords from generators to where we needed the power, so I asked, "Where do we need power first?"
"Just do it!" She screeched.
I plugged in one extension cord, and before I could unravel the 100' cord and place it out of walkways, etc., my boss plugged her iphone into the end. It turned out she forgot to charge it the night before, so I had to unspool and run a cord as she stood next to me attached to the cord with the other end plugged into the outlet as she checked her e-mails.
When we got to unload the van, she came out and said, "What do you think you're doing?"
"Unloading the van," a co-worker replied.
"Well, just make sure you don't leave equipment in the middle of the street."
My co-worker and I looked at each other as she walked away. What kind of idiots would put their stuff in the middle of the street?
That was just one day on that job, but she was asked not to return shortly after.

Default Worst Boss

I just got back to New York and was looking for a place of employment close to home. Well, I found one and it reminded me of why I left the state in the first place. I had been working for over a year on night shift and was in charge of cleaning the store before the boss got there in the morning. I do not know what I did to make her mad but she left me with no change (quarters, dimes, etc.) and on a night when the three bars in town were holding their quarter drink night for the weekend. Needless to say when the bars closed down, the drunks came to our open all night store, to eat and puke. The store was not clean to her white glove perfection and she proceeded to read me the riot act of how I was supposed to keep the place spotless. I tried to explain that the people did not leave until 5:30 am and she came in at 6:00 am and I did not have time to do everything she wanted. Needless to say I left, of my own accord, and the store is now in someone elses hands.
