Perhaps some of you remember a Tv series in the 70's that only ran very , very briefly over here. It never really caught on. It was either written, directed or produced by Mel Brooks and was basically a sort of fore runner of Men In Tights. It was a 'wacky spoof' of the Robin Hood and His Merry Men story. It was completely cast with American actors and comedians I think...
Can't for the life of me remember the title though..

..Oh gosh yes....I remember it very well...and remember liking it too...Well Mel Brooks, what's not to like...certainly not on a par with Get Smart, but funny nonetheless...

i forgot all about When Things Were Rotten!!! It was a very, very funny show on ABC back in the eighties. It was short-lived but i remember being glued to the set to see it every week when it was on.
And i used to watch Carol Burnett as a kid especially to see Harvey Korman trying not to laugh out loud at Tim Conway's adlibs.

Mel Brooks has a beautiful attitude about life and laughter. If i had to choose a favorite it would be Young Frankenstein. Gene Wilder had pitched it to him on the set of Blazing Saddles.
Anybody remember the cartoon about "The 2000 Year Old Man"? It had started as an adlib thing between him and Carl Reiner while writing for the Sid Ceaser Comedy/Variety Show. Carl was a reporter interviewing Mel who played the 2000 Year Old Man on everything from being a caveman to all sorts of historical times thorought the ages.

The Twelve Chairs is good and I also like Silent Movie and i'm surprised nobody mentioned Dracula: Dead and Loving it and I also love Robin Hood: Men in Tights

I like that movie very much, have not seen it in years though. Ron Moody, Dom DeLuise and Frank Langella star in it.

That was suppoerting 'Young Frankenstein' when i saw it back int he 70's
I always remeber the 2000 yr old man telling the interviewer that 'back then' he only ate 'natural food'...like tree bark...and gravel'.

In my day we didn't have hair dryers. If you wanted to blow dry your hair you stood outside during a hurricane. Your hair was dry but you had a sharp piece of wood driven clear through your skull and that's the way it was and you liked it!

Thats because he's not trying to appeal to any certain age group it's just pure comedy that everyone can enjoy
