L.A. screenwriter David Sumner (Marsden) relocates with his wife (Bosworth) to her hometown in the deep South. There, while tensions build between them, a brewing conflict with locals becomes a threat to them both. >>>
This stars: James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and James Woods. I hate hearing this BS that an original is always better than a remake. Really? You mean you cant think of ONE remake that was better, come on. I thought this was pretty decent. A hair over the top with the violence but I guess it was needed. As far as the 'rape' goes......I dont know? I'm still 50/50 if it was rape or not, whatever. I like almost anything Bosworth is in. I give this film a 4/10 Ken

Not seen this yet but it's on my Love Film list. I doubt that James Marsden in a pair of specs (to make him look nerdy) is amatch for the genuinely nerdy looking Dustin Hoffman when the the excrement finally hits the air extractor. One of the main points of the original is the nerdy, short, gentle, non violent cerebral mathematician finally losing it to defend his house from invasion. Marsden looks perfectly capable of defending himself which kind of defeats the object. Mr J..if you're unsure that the 'rape' is actually rape then it's been badly scripted/filmed. The whole point of that scene is that she is brutally raped and if that doesn't come across in the remake then something is wrong. This is out on DVD this week so I may get to see it soon.
