From director Mark Protosevich. whose only "real" movie is "The Cell" , comes "I Am Legend". A "new" take on the most excellant book by Richard Matheson. The script that's floating around is absolutely blasphemous when compaired to Matheson's novel. Downright sh!tty. If they want to make this movie properly, let Richard Matheson write the screenplay. HELLOOOOO! He has had a few turns at scriptwriting ya know. Gees oh man.

I read some things on the IMDb. Joaquin Phoenix is rumored to be in negotiations to do a movie called "We Own The Night", not much is written about it, except for this :
Plot Outline: A New York nightclub manager tries to save his brother and father from Russian mafia hit men.

He's also rumored for a role in a movie called "Without Remourse"

Everyone knows I'm a fan....but these sound a little bland so far. I'll have to wait and read more information .

There has been rumours of a 'definitive' version of 'I Am Legend' floating around Hollywood for the last 10 years now..if not longer.
I'd heard it was originally going to star Arnie (obviously not now, thankfully)..then I heard it would star Will Smith...then that the 'vampires' would simply be wild, anarchist bikers...and now this.....

For someone who's been waiting soooooo long for a new version this news must please you no end, Paler!

When oh when will The Rum Diary start production!?

The production was originally slated to start in 2004. Funnily enough Thompson had an equal amount of trouble actually writing the novel in the late 50's (which is covered in The Proud Highway for those who are interested). It was only published after his career really took off but by then Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas had taken it's place as his Iconic novel. So when released, The Rum Diary became "the long lost novel" with no real place to stand. It's still a great read though!

Anyway, you'd think with a name like Depp's garanteed on the cast list, a project like this would have little trouble getting off the ground but there you go
Maybe I'll end up directing it in years to come!
