Default Walk the Line

James Mangold (Heavy, Cop Land, Girl, Interrupted, Identity) co-wrote and will direct this biopic of Johnny Cash. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon will star.

Sounds interesting...Joaquin Phoenix is a good choice for the part...

Yeah, and apparently, rather than lip-sinc ala Jamie Foxx in Ray, Phoenix, Witherspoon and the other actors actually (playing Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis) learned to sing and play like the people they are portraying.

It will be in theaters November 18th.

I really loathe country music..but always kinda liked Johnny Cash....it sounds like the movie has some promise.

Yeah..but there's 'country music'...and then there's Johnny Cash...who I think had a much wider appeal than just C&W fans.

He Da MAN! (oh, ok He Da MAN...in Black!)

Yeah, though he become more of a conventional country artist later in his career, during the time covered in the movie, the early Sun Records days with Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison, Cash's style was much more in line with the '50s 'rockabilly' sound--I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues ("I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die"), Ring of Fire--great songs!

Johnny Cash isn't country and he never has been...you can call his music rockabilly and you can call it folk music...sure he's done a lot of gospel, but that isn't necessarilly country music either....from a classic rock/metal head guy, i would say that johnny cash is one of the greatest artists in music history, maybe the greatest when considering all of his accomplishments

Yeah, Cash did a little of everything, early rock n roll, country, folk, standards, cowboy songs, gospel

I just saw the trailer, and if that's really Phoenix singing, he can do a damned fine Cash.

Love Johnny Cash. Can't wait to see this.
He's got such an awesome voice.

I don't think people should have anything against country and western music either. I mean country, western, celtic, bluegrass, folk, they're all related! Good music is good music, no matter what "genre" it's from.
