Dear users,

On Sunday, March 6, 2005, The Online Movie Forums, then powered by phpBB were attacked and suffered significant losses. Unable to recover the old forums, and refusing to let our attackers triumph, I obtained the Vbulletin software from my company. I installed it, and configured it enough to get things going again.

I promise you that the new forums are much more secure and will be backed up by myself weekly. Due to the recent events, I'm taking all security here much more seriously, including spamming, etc. I'll be working closely with Ozma and TappyTibbons from the old forums to get things going again. I encourage you all to sign up and start posting. We had a great group. We will rise again.

Ok on the plus side I'm really, really glad that the forum is back. I was stunned when I found it 'gone' and thought it was gone for good and that I'd have to find another forum (again).

It's a shame that I lost my post count of over 2,600 and that we have to build this up from scratch again..but I'm sure once the regulars realise we're back it will soon pick up.

However, as far as I can see there is no 'User Profile' which I'm guessing would mean no avatars or signatures? I haven't viewed what few messages there are yet so I don't know if anyone has an avatar yet but the lack of a User profile page would suggest that avatars are not available on this version...which is a real shame...especially as we were about to start ther themed avatar game when everything went 'mammeries perpendicular'

Also there doesn't seem to be the facility to send PM's to other members..

So although I'm happy that the forum is back and according to you, Kev, should be safer and more secure than the earlier one I feel it's lacking by not having a PM facility or a User Profile/avatar/sig set up.

I guess we'll just have to muddle on regardless...
Nice to have the forum back..albeit in a lesser format.

..and Klance..I've since discovered the 'PM' and User profile facility (sorry..unfamiliar with this forum layout)...

I miss the old way, but i'm sure we can rebuild this forum into the great one it was before the attack. Hopefully, all the regular users will sign up again so it can be built back up.

Ohhh..that's interresting. I've just noticed that, now I've added a signature quote it only appears on messages posted since I posted the quote and not automatically on all messages I've posted so far.

Does this mean that if and when we get the ability to post avatars that each avatar we use will appear from the day we first posted it and all our previous avatars will still be visible on old messages?

It's nice to see everything going again... I know it'll be a lot of work to get things how they were, but I think just having the old users coming back is a big step...

Ok, this is so cool...Boy it's going to take a bit to get the hang of all the new features..

Jeez ,I don't deal well with change, but this is going to be great...hahaha we are all "newbies" now.
It was so awful what happened to the Forum, but we have to look at the positive side, this is a pretty slick looking site. I'll even use a new smiley....
