Default The Night Flier Sequel

IQ may (or may not)be happy to know that a sequel to The Night Flier is being planned. I don't know many details but I understand that Stephen King has seen a copy of the script and approved it..and has even 'tweaked' the script slightly himself.

It's been written and will be directed by the same director, Mark Pavia...Apologies if this is old news..I only found out last night.

I am delighted to hear that...The Night Flyer was one of my all time favorite Steven King stories.
So is it going to be another made for TV movie..it was quite good for one of them..

King's books that are made into movies are almost always made for TV movies in the US...so it's likely that this one will be too.

A lot of King's books are made in mini series...rather than one off movies for TV. Basically it's the only way you can do justice to King's doorstop sized tomes.
It, Tommyknockers, 'Salem's Lot, The Stand, The Shining, all benefitted from being four or five hours long in total than having to be condensed in to one and a half to two hours.

The Lawnmower Man (1992) (title only) (credit removed following lawsuit)
I missed that story.

Sometime in the early 80's (I think) a load of King's short stories were bought to be adapted into films...most bore little resemblance to the original text when they were made, though or padded out a very short story with all new material.
King thought that The Lawnmower Man was an adaptation too far as apart from having a central character who mowed lawns for a living it bore no relation what so ever to his short story (which basically told of a guy who is killed in his house by a naked nutter with a power mower) and brought a lawsuit against the film company to have his name removed from the posters and credits.
On the day I saw 'The Lawnmower Man' in theatres the case was being decided. On the way into the thratre the posters all said 'Stephen King's 'The Lawnmower Man'...by the time we came out King had won his case and the posters all had black Duck tape over King's name.
A poster for The Lawnmower Man that still has 'Stephen King's' above the title is probably worth quite a bit I should think.
