Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition Trailer (1997)


To celebrate its twentieth anniversary, special editions of the three original Star Wars movies returned to theaters starting on President's Day 1997. In order to draw existing fans who already saw the films, bonus features were added to the movies, including deleted scenes. They were also presented with newly enhanced visual effects and THX and digital sound. The re-release proved to be a success for the studio on the heels of the release of the Phantom Menace in 1999.

Watch a Star Wars Revenge of the Jedi movie trailer which ran in theaters before George Lucas decided to change the title to Return of the Jedi. Lucas explained that the idea of revenge is not a Jedi principle or trait, as revenge can be seen as a type of hatred. Therefore, the name was changed to Return of the Jedi, since Luke Skywalker ushers in their return.
