17 Hunger Games T-Shirts Katniss Everdeen Would Kill For
After learning that Suzanne Collins bestselling novel The Hunger Games was being turned into a movie, it was obvious that a lot of unique Hunger Games clothing and merchandise would soon be emerging. This list comprises the best looking t-shirts available. Support Katniss Everdeen in the 74th annual Hunger Games, a tournament to the death that takes place in a futuristic post-apocalyptic North America known as Panem. The government, referred to by the city they inhabit, the Capitol, holds the tournament in order to punish previous attempts at rebellion and to quell future attempts. In addition to tees, I also discovered a Hunger Games Mockingjay Pin that is perfect for Katniss Everdeen costumes. To buy a T-Shirt, click the image or link for store and size information.
Katniss Song t-shirt
As part of its eye-catching design, the front of this Hunger Games tee features the song that Katniss sings to Rue as she's dying. The touching lyrics are displayed in silver lettering and fill the background of the design, while a red Mockingjay symbol rests on top. Rue hails from District 11 where she spent her days working in the orchards. She would climb to the treetops and sing several notes of a song to signal to everyone that the workday was over. The mockingjays nearby would repeat the notes and the tune would spread through the forest.

District 1 Luxury t-shirt
The design on the left represents District 1, Luxury. Citizens of the 1st District work to make luxury items for the Capitol. They often bear names that represent certain attributes of the items they make. For example, Marvel, Glimmer, Cashmere and Gloss are all tributes from District 1 who compete in the Games (Marvel and Glimmer in the first book and Cashmere and Gloss in Catching Fire). Get this Hunger Games District 1 t-shirt to show that you hail from where tributes volunteer to compete.

District 13 Mockingjays t-shirt
Originally featured as the tee of the day on the website TeeFury, this design incorporates the rebel District 13 with the book's most memorable animal, the mockingjay. District 13 went underground at the end of the Dark Days War. The Capitol had attempted to convince everyone that District 13 had been wiped out by bombs, but in reality the inhabitants headed underground into bunkers, eventually creating an underground city of sorts with the sole purpose of raising soldiers to defeat President Snow in a rebellion. Wear this Hunger Games t-shirt with a matching Mockingjay pin.

District 5 Power shirt
Inhabitants of District 5 work in the power industry, as indicated by the design on this District 5 shirt. The most well-known tribute from District 5 is a female by the name of Foxface, a nickname that Katniss gave her due to her red hair and thin face, not to mention that she is rather sly. Foxface, who proved to be a worthy competitor in the 74th Hunger Games, survived until the last leg of the tournament. An unnamed boy tribute hailed from District 5 as well, but he was among the first to die.

Girl on Fire Katniss t-shirt
This retro poster art style Katniss shirt advertises her as The Girl on Fire, a nickname that was coined by her stylist Cinna, because he always styled the star tribute to make her look like she was on fire. The design features a silhouette of The Girl on Fire with red hair and the phrase "Simply Cinna-tillating" underneath. The design also reminds us that Katniss Everdeen is the tribute from District 12, the poorest and most scarcely populated of all the 13 districts.

District 12 Mining
Available in both men's and women's styles, this Hunger Games District 12 t-shirt represents Katniss Everdeen's home region. Its primary function is mining coal for the Capitol, making it the poorest of all the districts. Located in the Appalachian Mountains, it is comprised of four distinct areas: The Seam, the Hob, the merchant sector and the Victors' Village. The entirety of the region is surrounded by a twenty-foot tall electric fence, likely constructed to keep the people in.

I Survived the Hunger Games
This unique design offers a creative take on the popular Survivor TV show logo. The center of the design reads, "I Survived the Hunger Games and all I got was this lousy t-shirt." A Mockingjay can be seen in the background and the words "outfox", "outfight" and "outlive" surround the center design. This is a tweak on the Survivor logo, which features the words "outwit", "outplay" and "outlast". Pick up an I Survived the Hunger Games shirt so that everyone is aware of your abilities.

Hunger Games District 12 Tribute t-shirt
Let everyone know that you are a District 12 tribute like Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. Those who hail from District 12 work as coal miners for the Capitol. Mercantile families in the district live in the town, while the other poorer families live in the Seam, which is an overcrowded, impoverished slum. Tributes from twelve have only been victorious in the Games three different times, including the 50th Games, also known as the second Quarter Quell. Get your District 12 Tribute shirt and make your community proud.

I Love the Boy with the Bread Peeta t-shirt
Peeta Mellark is the male tribute from District 12. His father is a bread baker, so his family is part of the less struggling mercantile class, as indicated by Peeta's blond hair and blue eyes (a classic attribute of the class). His first encounter with Katniss occurred when she was eleven. He purposely burned bread so that it could be thrown away and given to Katniss and her starving younger sister Primrose. This Team Peeta t-shirt reveals your support for Katniss Everdeen's closest ally.

Book Art Mockingjay t-shirt
The design on the left displays the cover art for author Suzanne Collins' third novel in the trilogy, Mockingjay, which was first published on August 24, 2010. In the book, Katniss Everdeen becomes the "Mockingjay", a symbol of hope for the rebellion against the Capitol. The fictional bird originated as the result of the unintended mating of mutant jabberjays and mockingbirds. This Mockingjay t-shirt shows that you are not afraid to proudly display this soaring symbol of the rebellion. Add a Mockingjay pin or necklace to complete the look.

Hunger Games Down with the Capitol
Fight with Katniss wearing one of these Down with the Capitol Hunger Games t-shirts that will inspire fellow rebels to stand up against President Snow. The Capitol is the largest city in Panem and is believed to be located in the Rocky Mountains. It's inhabitants are far better off than the citizens of the outlying districts, so much so that they often over-indulge in plastic surgery, dye their skin, and starve themselves to feel attractive. To them, the Hunger Games are a source of entertainment.

Mellark Bakery shirt
The Mellark Bakery is Peeta's father's bakery that is located in the center of town. The establishment sells a variety of baked goods, including pastries, cakes and breads. Even though Peeta's family does not live in the Seam, they still do not have enough money to buy their own pastries. Instead, they eat what's too old to sell. This Mellark Bakery t-shirt advertises the family establishment where they both work and live.

Everdeen & Hawthorne Hunting Co. t-shirt
Gale Hawthorne, portrayed by Liam Hemsworth in the Hunger Games movie, was Katniss Everdeen's closest friend. Gale, who is two years older, also lost his father in the District 12 mining explosion that killed Katniss' dad. The two often hunted together until Gale went to work in the mines in Catching Fire. Jealous over Katniss' publicized "relationship" with Peeta, Gale reveals his feelings for Katniss by unexpectedly kissing her in the woods. Support him with this or a Hunger Games Team Gale t-shirt.

Hunger Games Logo t-shirt
In the center of this 74th Annual Hunger Games Logo shirt is the familiar Panem symbol, which is almost as recognizable as the symbol on the mockingjay pin, featured below. The pin was given to Katniss by the mayor's daughter Madge Undersee. It had originally belonged to Madge's aunt Maysilee, who was a tribute who lost her life in the 50th Games. The pin is a symbol of hope for the rebels and a sign to Katniss that Madge is her friend. The bird itself is an insult to the Capitol, since it is the unintended byproduct of their failed experiments with jabberjays.

Effie Trinket shirt
Effie Trinket lives in the Capitol and works as an adviser who is assigned to District 12. Not only does she draw the names of the tributes at the reaping, she escorts the tributes to the Capitol and assists them in proper etiquette, etc. At first she is unhappy that she was assigned to the poorest district, but as she gets to know the tributes her feelings change. Her most notable quote is perfect to utter while wearing this Effie Trinket t-shirt, "Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor!"

Hunger Games The Hob t-shirt
The Black Market Trading Post The Hob is featured prominently in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy in both the first book and in Catching Fire, before it is incinerated by the Capitol. Well-known characters associated with The Hob include Greasy Sae, who operates a soup stand there. Wear The Hob shirt shown here or a Hunger Games Catching Fire t-shirt to promote the forbidden trading and activities that allow hope to catch fire in the hearts of the rebels.

Odds in Your Favor t-shirt
Not only does this resistance propaganda design by the artist zerobriant look great, it displays some of the most popular quotes from the book, including Effie Trinket's quote, "May the odds be ever in your favor." The center of the design features a superbly rendered orange Mockingjay, while surveillance cameras watch from the four corners. "Down with the Capitol" can be seen just below an orange silhouette of Katniss taking aim with her bow. This Hunger Games tee supports the resistance.

Mockingjay Pin or Necklace
Whether you're trying to complete a Katniss Everdeen costume or you wish to add the pin to one of the Hunger Games shirts, this collectible pin is a satisfactory option, despite the sellers' elevated price tag. The increase in price is the obvious result of an increase in demand on the heels of the movie's release. I've decided to link to eBay's selection since the slightly more expensive (but more collectible) Comic-Con Hunger Games Mockingjay pins are still available there.
